I'm proud to be an Australian, we really are a very
lucky Country. Our land has great diversity and beauty,
from the cities to the outback we have a beauty that is rich
in colour. I have travelled through 4 of our 6 states and
1 of our 2 territories and can say that each state and capital
city I've been to has it's own beauty and it's own landmarks
which make them all unique and special.

Australia Day marks the date in 1788 when Captain Arthur Phillip,
commanding a fleet of 11 ships of the British Royal Navy, sailed
into Port Jackson (Sydney Cove) and founded the settlement which
was to become Sydney, first in the then colony of New South Wales.

Australian Flag is the only one to fly over a whole continent.
A small Union Jack represents the historical link with Britain.
The large seven-pointed star represents the six States and the
Territories; and the small stars form the Southern Cross:
a prominent feature of the southern hemisphere's night sky.

Australia is the world's smallest, flattest continent and largest
island, with almost 70 per cent of its land mass below the Tropic
of Capricorn. The island continent separates two great oceans --
the Pacific to the east and the Indian to the west. New Guinea and
South-East Asia are Australian's nearest neighbours to the north,
and New Zealand is located off the south-east coast. Australia is
one of the world's most urbanized countries, with 70 per cent of
the population living in the 10 largest cities. Australia is
divided into six states and two territories.
