Fairies
They live beneath the waterfall
And fly out when shadows are tall,
When the man in the moon grins
They begin magic charms to send.
I wish they would send my way
Some magic to help me day to day.
A charm to wear around my neck
To protect when life seems a wreck.
I would not ask too much of them,
Never for a fantasy or fanciful whim.
If only they would be still and listen
I could explain my needful position.
All I want is stacks of green money
To make my dreary life more sunny,
A moderate castle in which to dwell
And a small but fruitful wishing well.
I'm sure the fairies under the falls
Have magical charms to cure my all.
If only they'd listen when I call to them,
My charmed life I could begin.
When they take flight next moony night
Perhaps I can catch one and hold it tight
Until it agrees to be my little helper
Laying before me all things I'm after.
